Exercise to stop cancer returning
By Jane Kirby (Metro Herald)
Exercise is a 'wonder drug' for cancer survivors and may even prevent the disease coming back, according to a new report.
A matter of life and breath
What exactly is breathing? According to dictionary.com it is 'to take in air, oxygen, etc., into the lungs and expel it; inhale and exhale, respire'. It is one of the most natural of human functions, innate and instinctive. We take it for granted. Should we?
Coping with Stress
De-stressing may not be as stressful as you think. While we all may have deadlines and responsibilities to others that make looking after our own health next to impossible, learning how to incorporate simple exercises and healthy eating habits into their hectic day may just save our lives.
Back Pain
Although usually not life-threatening, back pain is one of the most common conditions experienced in America. It is also one of the most frequent complaints that doctors receive and one of the top reasons people give for missing work every year. According to the government's comprehensive report of Americans' health called Health United States 2006, which was released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for Health Statistics, it is estimated that four out of five people will experience recurring back pain at some point in their lives. Additionally, one in four U.S. adults say they suffered a day-long bout of pain in the past month, and one in ten say the pain lasted a year or more.
Womens Health
Women are faced with many unique diseases relating to their reproductive organs, such as breast, cervical, uterine and ovarian cancers as well as other conditions that affect those areas of the female body. Other reproductive-related conditions arise as well, such as vaginal yeast infections, concerns regarding general breast health and complications related to the menstrual cycle. Women must also consider important health issues related to birth control, pregnancy, child-bearing, and postpartum complications. Another tendency of women is that they are more likely than men to experience eating disorders or body image-related problems. Finally, women experience menopause, which causes tremendous hormonal changes and has a multitude of symptoms; a woman's chances of developing cancer, osteoporosis or urinary incontinence also increase after she has gone through menopause.
